EDL offers services and support to help interested businesses choose Lethbridge for their new location. Through our Choose Lethbridge business investment profiles, we provide information on the excellent infrastructure, transportation systems and natural resources in the city and the county. The consistent, stable growth of the past 10 years demonstrates the strength of the assets our city and area has to offer. EDL also has partnerships with other economic development organizations to elevate opportunities for the entire region.

Business Retention & Expansion
In 2005, the business community indicated that labour shortages were becoming the biggest obstacle related to their development and expansion. EDL responded by establishing a new priority to help them face the ongoing challenge of finding qualified employees. The ‘You Belong Here’ Labour Force Initiative has been underway since November 2005 and is designed to link potential employees with local employers.

Convention & Event Development
The attraction of major conventions and events helps generate patrons for local retail outlets, customers for area restaurants and, ideally, ongoing advocates when these visitors return home. As a compliment to the tourism attraction done by other organizations, EDL focuses on bringing more business meetings, conferences and conventions to the city and supports others in attracting major events by providing the information they may need to be successful.

The board of Directors and staff of Economic Development Lethbridge established the all-encompassing goal for Lethbridge to be recognized and respected as a vital player in the provincial and national marketplace.
