In the Lethbridge area there are 33 organizations that employ 100 or more people.
Nine of the top 10 employers in the Lethbridige area are public sector employers in health care, K to 12 education, government services or post-secondary education.
These nine employers represent more than 10,000 workers. That translates into a stable local labour market that is not as susceptible to wide swings of worker surplus or shortage that some communities have experienced in the past three years.
The region’s largest employers also represent many other sectors:
- 10 are in the retail or hospitality industry
- eight are in transportation or manufacturing
- five are in agri-food.
