Lethbridge - As part of the Intelligent Community initiative, Economic Development Lethbridge is pleased to host the next ‘food for thought’ luncheon on Thursday, January 26, 2017. This dynamic luncheon features Dr. Katherine Loflin who will provide attendees with a thought-provoking presentation highlighting the importance of understanding the community attributes that make people ‘attach’ to a place. Within this context Dr. Loflin will also share a high-level overview of the results from the ‘Our Lethbridge’ survey which was conducted in order to develop a foundation of understanding around the existing brand attributes of our city.
“Business leaders, stakeholders and community members who are interested in brand development from both a theoretical and tactical level will benefit from the expertise that a subject-matter specialist like Dr. Loflin brings to the table,” says EDL Director of Marketing & Communications Director Jaylene Ulmer. “We know that in order to build a successful and sustainable brand strategy that reflects the essence of the community we need to work with a broad range of stakeholders and hope this lunch provides an opportunity to begin this engagement.”
As part of EDL’s four-year business plan, and stewardship of the Intelligent Community initiative, the information gathered from the survey provides an initial framework for building a community-inspired brand strategy through 2017. This luncheon will offer attendees valuable insight and ‘food for thought’ around brand strategy development that emphasizes the authentic and lived experiences of Lethbridge residents.
“The initial survey results indicate that, in general, Lethbridge residents have a higher than average sense of attachment to this city,” adds EDL CEO Trevor Lewington. “As we continue to work with Dr. Loflin on additional comparison and analysis we will build an even deeper understanding of the characteristics that our community values most and, in turn, be able to use this baseline to develop key value statements that authentically resonate with the community.”
The ‘food for thought’ luncheon will take place at the Coast Lethbridge Hotel & Conference Centre on Thursday, January 26, 2017. Tickets are $25 each or $125 for a table of six and and are available by visiting chooselethbridge.ca/foodforthought or by calling the EDL office at 403-331-0022.
